Graduate from a school of professional registered nursing.  BSN preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.  Current AHA certification or equivalent in basic CPR.  ACLS preferred. Six months to one year acute care experience required within the last three years. One year telemetry care experience preferred. Telemetry certification within 6 months of employment. Cardiac physiology training and cardiac surgery pathway introduction per unit competency requirement within 6 months of employment. Applies the nursing process in providing care; can perform basic nursing functions.  Demonstrates skills in the areas including but not limited to: arrhythmia  interpretation for units with telemetry, patient assessment and safe utilization of  medications.  Capable of working independently.  Good written, verbal and electronic communication skills.  Standardized procedure for discharge of an adult patient for the surgical unit. Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, patients, physicians, and co-workers.  Ability to remain flexible and positive within a rapidly changing patient care environment.  Must demonstrate current knowledge and skill in providing care for patients in the following age groups:  infant through the school aged adolescent, adult and geriatric.

The Clinical Nurse is responsible, accountable and has the authority to deliver nursing care according to the philosophy and goals/objectives of the Division of Nursing.  The nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individual patient care. The registered nurse makes determinations regarding the progress of the patient toward goals and utilizes a therapeutic professional relationship with the patient and family to facilitate the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health.  The nurse modifies and delivers care that is specific to the special behaviors/needs of the infant through school aged adolescent, adult and geriatric patient within the scope of service of the Medical - Surgical - Telemetry Units. Distribution of staff and patients may require reassignment on a shift by shift basis to other nursing areas.
